Sophisticated DRUGSCAN® Confirmation
DRUGSCAN® will confirm every presumptive positive result received from the Screening process. The confirmation process utilizes the most sophisticated devices available in the laboratory industry. Confirmation screening will be performed on the most appropriate instrument related to the metabolite being sought. DRUGSCAN® utilizes gas chromotography/mass spectometry (LC/MS/MS and/or GC/MS) tests to verify the presence of drugs and to provide the quantum of proof necessary to sustain challenges. Furthermore, each positive confirmation is reviewed and certified by a Certifying Scientist.
Confirmation Batches are accumulated once screening is completed. Each batch has a multi-point calibration curve and includes drug-free Quality Controls (QC) and two-levels of positive QC.
In the Quality Assurance review, QC must meet the acceptable criteria. The other criteria that must be met includes acceptable chromatography, ion ratios +/- 20% of the calibrator, and the quantitation must be equal or greater than the HHS or other applicable mandated cutoff. In addition, the specimen must have met all criteria for a positive screen including a response greater than or equal to the cutoff calibrator and acceptable quality control. All chain of custody documents must be complete and intact before results may be reported.
QC is plotted on a Levy-jennings Chart. The acceptable range is +/- 20% of the target concentration. QC is reviewed by the certifying scientist before results are accepted.
